Hi Folks! Andrew and Jamie here and we are a small family business based in Melbourne, Australia.

We are extremely passionate about nature, travel, camping and all things outdoorsy. We love Australia so much and honestly believe it is the most beautiful country in the world. We believe that exploring in a campervan is hands down the best way to immerse yourself in everything our country has to offer. There is nothing better than the freedom and flexibility that van life brings.

Our van journey started a few years ago when on a whim, looking for an adventure, we decided to buy a Toyota Hiace to convert into a camper.

With only the basement car park of our apartment building to work in at the time, we chipped away at our build inconspicuously, trying to evade our vigilante building manager who was always on our case! We fell in love with the process of building vans and continued to add/modify and tinker - our van was always evolving. Fast forward to today, we have a team of creatives working with us to create dream vans in our workshop in based in Melbourne.

We especially enjoy re-purposing and up cycling materials, working with wood and the challenge of designing quirky yet practical features that make the most out of limited space. We’ve spent a lot of time on the road and we’ve tried and tested what works and what doesn’t.

We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love we received over the years for our vans and were approached to convert for others. Blackbird Camper Co. was born out of desire to combine our woodworking, art and design skills to create unique, beautiful vans for others to make amazing memories and explore the magic of Australia!
